Rogue Stands with Old Town Brewing

Independent craft beer is under attack and we’re standing behind our neighbors. #StandWithOTB

I write you because we are in dire times. Independent craft is under attack from Big Beer, this time with the assistance of the City of Portland.

Our allies at Old Town Brewing have spent the last several years painstakingly following the legal process of trademarking the Leaping Stag, taking great care to ensure their logo is rightly and fairly protected. Now, the City of Portland is underhandedly attempting to lease that protected image to beer giant Anheuser-Busch.

The Rogue Nation loves the city of Portland, but we have no patience for those at City Hall who want to foolishly and unduly harass a fellow independent craft brewer regarding a trademark they own.

We hereby ban City of Portland lawyers, bureaucrats and Mayor Ted Wheeler from our Portland outposts — Rogue Hall, Eastside Pub & Pilot Brewery, and the Distillery & Public House — until this nonsensical dispute propagated by the City is abandoned and a formal apology and explanation are issued. It goes without saying that the dogs of these city employees are still welcome in the Rogue Nation.

In the meantime, I decree Old Town beers to be served as one of our 19 Guest Taps at Rogue Eastside Pub and Pilot Brewery. Join us against this injustice and take a stand against the system.

Rise Up,

Big Al Jorgensen,

President of the Rogue Nation
