Our Rogue Distillery & Public House in Portland's Pearl District is Getting a Facelift

Monday, January 29th, 2018, the Rogue Distillery & Public House on 13th and Flanders St., in Portland, Ore. will temporarily close the doors for the first time in 18 years to renovate and revamp our location in the Pearl District. This is the first time we will be closed during the day since we opened 6,205 days ago.

The last weekend of January we will completely close for demolition and prepare the pub for a soft re-open in early March while we continue to work on the bar. We are planning on hosting our grand reopening in early April — so stay tuned.

The 91-year-old building in the Pearl District, which is now our home, holds a rich history and was once a creamery. It later turned into Bogart’s Family Restaurant and eventually became Portland Brewing Co. before we moved in.

This is also where we became Oregon’s first rum distillery and first distilled spirits in 2003, before relocating our distillery to Rogue World Headquarters in Newport, Ore.

Planned improvements to the pub include a new expanded bar which includes an entirely new draft system with 42 taps and a cask engine for our award winning beers, an updated dining area, two separate areas for larger parties and a fully revamped pub, hand crafted cocktail menu and a completely new food menu (which you can try now at Rogue Eastside Pub and Pilot Brewery).

The distillery equipment on the second floor and a few other key pieces will be preserved and incorporated into the new design. We'll also repurpose the 18-foot solid wood bar that now stands in our pub. Before we do that, we plan to remove the small brass plaques which belong to Rogue Pint Club members and formally return the them to their owners at the renovation party in the following days.

The surf board that currently hangs over the bar (pictured above) was hand made by our original Rogue Nation President, Steve Swan -- and it's actually functional. We'll auction it off and proceeds will be donated to Paw Team.

During the renovation, our employees will be joining other departments around the company. While a few will be taking well-earned vacation, others are headed to the Rogue Eastside Pub & Pilot Brewery kitchen to serve our guests there or to learn the new menu. And a couple will even support our sales and marketing efforts, adding more Rogue power to those teams and working side by side with their fellow Rogues.

What you need to know:

  1. The dates — The pub will begin its renovation on Mon. Jan. 29th. and will tentatively be open for business at the end of February.
  2. More beer — We’re adding 6 more taps so we can serve a total of 42 Rogue ales and lagers alongside that new World Class menu inside a larger bar & restaurant.
  3. Our other pubs are open — If you frequent Rogue Hall or Rogue Eastside Pub & Pilot Brewery, you may see a few new faces. The Rogue Distillery & Public House gang will be helping out our other pubs — and at our Portland sales and marketing office during the remodel.
