For the sixth year, the Jack Joyce Scholarship awards $60,000 to future fermenters. Rogue Ales & Spirits and Columbia Distributing chose these stand out Oregon State University fermentation science students and awarded scholarships to them on Friday, November 15, 2019. The scholarship honors Rogue founder, Jack Joyce.
November 19, 2019 — Five Oregon State University Fermentation Science students were awarded a combined total of $60,000 through the Jack Joyce Scholarship last Friday night. The Jack Joyce Scholarship, established by Columbia Distributing and Rogue Ales & Spirits as a tribute to the late Rogue founder Jack Joyce, was created to give deserving students the opportunity to further their passion and desire for mastering the art of craft brewing.
Over the past six years, the scholarship has awarded over $300,000 to 32 students. The 2019 Jack Joyce Scholarship winners are Alonso Corral, Ricky Molitor, Jason Racine, Ian Savage and Keenan Schaan.

The Jack Joyce Scholarship Award was created in 2014 by Columbia Distributing and Rogue Ales in honor of visionary Jack Joyce for his legacy in the Oregon community and his founding of Rogue Brewery in 1988. Each year students enrolled in Oregon State University’s Fermentation Science program can apply for scholarship funds.
