Medium bodied with a malty aroma, this German-style Pilsner is brewed with 100% American grown Sterling hops and Czech yeast. Former Nike executive and Adidas USA entrepreneur Rob Strasser graces the label--a legendary Rogue. UberFest Pilsner pairs nicely with barbecue, burgers, smoked oysters, salmon, hot and spicy cuisines, or try it with cheese plate of aged cheddar and gouda. Available year-round and nationwide in the 22-ounce Rogue micropiece and in kegs. http://www.rogue.com/brews.html#Uber Thunder Jones wanted UberFest Pilsner so much he filed this online petition: "We, beer lovers, hearby demand that The Flying Saucer location in Nashville, TN make Rogue UberFest Pilsner one of your on-tap beers...not having this fine beer on your taplist is tragic. Failure to reinstate UberFest Pilsner to your regular supply of fine beers denies nature itself and is a shame to all of us who consider ourselves to be human." http://www.petitiononline.com/UberFest/petition.html Although DEAD GUY ALE is a natural choice for Halloween, was originally brewed in honor of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead, aka All Souls Day, celebrated on November 2nd). A German Maibock brewed with an ale yeast, this is a favorite for Halloween and Day of the Dead celebrations--look for the annual limited release glow-in-the-dark 22 ounce bottle and 64-ounce jug. Dead Guy Ale 12-ounce/6-packs, the standard (non-glow) 22 ounce bottle, and kegs are available year round. Try Dead Guy Ale with burgers, ribs, barbecue, and spicy Thai, Indian, or Mexican cuisine. It also pairs nicely with strong cheeses. http://www.rogue.com/brews.html#deadguy JOHN'S LOCKER STOCK is a special, limited release, draft only program showcasing one-off and retro recipes, available on tap only at a select group of on-premise retailers across the country. http://www.rogue.com/johnslockerstock/Retailers.pdf Four of the current John's Locker Stock (JLS) releases include: (1) IMPERIAL PORTER, brewed with summit hops which gives this porter a hint of tangerine. Imperial Porter debuted at the Oregon Brewers Fest in late July. (2) BREWER, a strong ale with some Mogul influences, named in honor of Brewer Maier, friend, Newport Ambassador and Chairman of Rogue Ales, who passed away on Saturday, May 20th. Brewer Maier graces the cover and centerfold of 100% Pure, Issue # 24. (3) MONK MADNESS, a Belgian inspired ale brewed with Rogue's proprietary PacMan Yeast. A 12 ingredient elixir which will debut at JLS retailers in September/October (it will be released in 22-ounce bottles nationwide for the winter holidays). (4) A much anticipated release this autumn is HOP HEAVEN, Rogue's annual wet hop harvest ale. John "more hops" Maier personally inspected and took delivery of the 800 pounds of fresh Oregon grown Centennial hops he used in the 2006 batch of Hop Heaven--visiting the farm in the morning, the fresh Centennial hops were in the kettle that afternoon. There are roughly 4 1/2 pounds of fresh hops per keg, original gravity is 15 degrees Plato, terminal gravity is 3.5 degrees Plato, International Bittering Units are really high! Descriptions of the JLS beers and a list of retailers serving them are on-line: http://www.rogue.com/brews.html#JLS ROGUE SPIRITS ============= The first rum distillery in the State of Oregon produces Rogue's award winning White Rum and Dark Rum is headed up by distiller Kieran Sienkiewicz. Rogue Spirits newest rum distillation is Hazelnut Spice Rum made with 8 Ingredients: Toasted Oregon Hazelnuts, Orange peel, Madagascar Bourbon, Vanilla Bean, Cinnamon, Clove, Hawaiian cane sugar, Champagne yeast, and Free Range Coastal Water. Rogue Rum is handcrafted in 567 litre grundies using Hawaiian cane sugar, Champagne yeast, and Free Range Mountain Water in the loft space above the bar at the Rogue Distillery and Public House, 1339 NW Flanders Street in Portland. The Rogue House of Spirits in Newport, Oregon opened for business on June 10th, 2006. Distiller John Couchot is teaming up with Rogue Brewmaster John Maier to produce Rogue Gin, Wasabi Vodka, and Cherry Vodka. Rogue Spirits' latest concoction, Spruce Gin, was over two years in the making and the combined effort of Kieran Sienkiewicz, head distiller at the Portland Distillery and John Couchot of the Newport House of Spirits, where it is currently being produced in a hand crafted 150 gallon Vendome copper pot still. The newest Rogue Spirit from Newport is Spruce Gin, a hybrid London Dry Genevere style Gin with a unique twist--whole Willamette Valley cucumbers and spruce are just 2 of the 11 mostly native Northwest ingredients. Beginning with free range coastal water, ten other botanicals are then absorbed into the mix: juniper berries, angelica root, orange peel, lemon peel, ginger, orris root, grains of paradise, tangerine, and finally whole Willamette valley cucumbers and spruce. Cucumbers for the recent batches were purchased from former Rogue employee Lisa Unger, who now owns and operates Jim's Fruit Stand near Corvalis. The House of Spirits will feature fine wines, outhouses, lottery, cheeses from Rogue Creamery, apparel, beer to-go, hand made root beer, and of course, our very own Rogue Spirits, artisan distilled on premise. Rogue's House of Spirits is located at 2122 Marine Science Drive in Newport. ROGUE QUOTES ============ "Pours like motor oil (you can practically chew it), tastes like coffee that's been roasting since whenever they started roasting coffee, and packs a wallop." Details Magazine's Worlds best beers rates Rogue's Russian Imperial Stout as the best stout to drink a year from now (why wait?). http://men.style.com/details/features/full?&id=content_4430&pageNum=3 "To balance the cayenne, chile oil, and red pepper in the dish, we drank Rogue American Amber Ale, made by Rogue Ales in Newport, Ore. The residual sweetness from the malt, which gives it the hint of caramel and coffee, helps to `put out the fire'." From an article in Business Week, pairing food and beer at David Burke's Primehouse in Chicago. http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/06_25/b3989098.htm "Don't soliloquize -- just drink Shakespeare Stout."
