Neil Hennelly, who is also president of the Portland Metro Police and Fire Emerald Society, a social organization of public safety professionals interested in Irish culture, will be in the Pearl District of Portland to participate in First Thursday on Thursday, April 3rd. The Emerald's babgipers begin at 5:30 pm. The group will launch a fundraiser for Sgt. Damon Coates at Rogue, located at NW Flanders and 14th Avenue, with performance art--a full-on bagpipe performance by the members, and culinary art--featuring Sgt. Join us in celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Repeal of Prohibition at (1) the Rogue Public House in Portland's Pearl District, (2) Rogue's Issaquah BrewHouse, and (3) the Bayfront Public House in Newport. All three Rogue Public Houses will be tapping a firkin of cask-conditioned American Amber Ale at 5:30 pm on April 7th. Please join us! Literature will available about Prohibition and the effects it had on America's brewing community. Factoid: American's drank 46.5 million gallons of 3.2% beer within 24 hours of prohibition ending, seventy years ago.
