NEWPORT, OR  – Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber recently visited the Rogue Public House in Eugene to present Rogue Ales & Spirits with the 2013 DISTILLER OF THE YEAR award.  Rogue Ales & Spirits, an American agri-craft beverage brewery & distillery, won the distinction at the World Beverage Competition in Geneva, Switzerland, the industry’s largest spirits competition with more than 20,000 entrants.

“Bringing the Distillery of the Year Award to the U.S. for the first time in many years is a great achievement!” – World Beverage Competition Judges

 

Celebrating their 25th Anniversary in brewing and 10th Anniversary in craft distilling, Rogue remains committed to growing, malting, roasting and smoking their own barley, rye, hops, honey, jalapenos, pumpkins and botanicals on two farms in Oregon’s Willamette Valley and Tygh Valley Bench, located in the eastern rain shadow of Mt. Hood.

 

This proprietary palate of ingredients allows Rogue’s team of ground-to-glass distillers to handcraft Dead Guy Whiskey, Oregon Single Malt Whiskey, Oregon Single Malt Vodka, Oregon Rye Whiskey, Spruce Gin, Pink Spruce Gin, Hazelnut Spice Rum, and Chipotle Spirit from the seed, to the bottle.

 

Long time Rogue Nation member Gov. Kitzhaber was particularly pleased to present Rogue Ales & Spirits with the 2013 DISTILLER OF THE YEAR award, and bring the honor not only to an American distillery, but an Oregon craft distillery.

 

The Governor, staff, and other guests were treated to a spread of new menu items, including Duck Fat Fries, Deep Fried Duck Eggs, House Smoked Tri-Tip Sliders, Rogue Honey Roasted Hazelnuts, Twice Cooked Brussel Sprouts and house made Rogue Root Beer.
