Rogue Gets Spicey for Cinco de Mayo

March 10, 2010 - (NEWPORT, OR): Rogue’s Chipotle Ale is Brewmaster John Maier’s salute to Cinco de Mayo. John added smoked Jalapeño peppers (Chipotle peppers) to his brew and balanced the spicy flavor with a good helping of hops. The recipe was inspired by Spanish author Juan de la Cueva, who, in 1575, wrote of a Mexican dish that combined seedless chipotles with ale. Chipotle’s smokiness is a perfect complement to Bar-B-Que, and its spiciness is a nice contrast to milder fare.

Dog and Brew Festival!

February 16, 2010 - (Newport, OR): Rogue Ales Brewery will host the 4th Annual Brewer’s Memorial Ale Festival on May 21-23 in Newport, OR in honor of Brewer, our revered Chairman and resident black lab who passed away in May 2006. The largest dog-friendly beer festival in the world, this year’s event will include 50+ microbreweries, live music, local seafood, and dog-inspired entertainment. Proceeds from the event will benefit local animal charities Oregon Coast Therapy Animals and the Central Coast Humane Society.

Rogue Gives Mom a Break

February 12, 2010 - (Newport, OR): Rogue is celebrating Mothers across the nation with the release of Mom Hefeweizen, available for Mother’s Day on May 9, 2010! According to the National Restaurant Association, Mother’s Day is now the most popular day of the year to dine out in the United States. For all that Mom does, she deserves a beer!

Dedicated to the Mother in each of us, Mom Ale features the likeness of Mo Niemi (1912–1992) whose spirit has indelibly shaped the daily life of Newport, Oregon. Mo was the founder of world famous Mo’s Restaurants and was instrumental in bringing Rogue Ales to Newport. She will always be remembered fondly as a mother to an entire community.

Rogue Spirits Win 3 Golds

February 8, 2010 - (Geneva, Switzerland): Rogue Spirits was the most honored distillery at the 2009/2010 World Beverage Competition, winning a total of six medals including three GOLD in competition with the top distillers from over 30 countries in “The Largest Beverage Competition in the World.”

The World Beverage Competition was founded on the premise that beverage products should be judged not by the strength of their marketing or the budget of their sales force, but rather on the quality and innovation of the product itself. All spirits in the World Beverage Competition are judged by a panel of industry experts from 6 different continents in a double blind tasting method.

Rogue Ales brings home sole Medal Awarded to a U. S. Brewery

A Rogue Saint Designated The World's Best

October 15, 2009 - (LONDON, England):Rogue Ales’ Dry Hopped St. Rogue Red was named the WORLD’S BEST PALE ALE.

Held in London, England the 3rd Annual World Beer Awards are held over five months and three separate tastings. Their mission? To search the world for the very best beers. An international panel of judges tasted their way through hundreds of entries from the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States, Australia and beyond to find the winners of each style. These style winners then went head to head at a blind tasting event, where the best beers in each category were selected. The beers that made it through were sent back to the judges for the third and final round.

Great American Spirits Revolution

October 15, 2009 - (PORTLAND, OR): For two days in October, over 50 craft spirits will descend on the city and be poured at the 5th Annual Great American Distillers Festival.

The 5th Annual Great American Distillers Festival will take place October 24th and 25th at the Bossanova Ballroom. The Festival is a gathering of craft distilleries who come to share their products, their passion, and their expertise in handcrafting spirits. Craft spirits distillers from coast to coast will be attending, including Tuthilltown Whiskey from New York, Roughstock Distillery in Montana, and House Spirits in Portland.

Morimoto and Maier Make Magical Meal

March 23, 2009 - (PHILADELPHIA, PA): In a SOLD OUT event at Morimoto Restaurant in Philadelphia, Iron Chef Morimoto and Rogue’s Brewmaster John Maier paired their two passions for a night of culinary and brewing art.

Chef Morimoto and John Maier collaborated to develop a gourmet five course meal with carefully selected food and beer. For the first course Chef Morimoto prepared Tora Tilla paired with MOM Hefeweizen. The next course was Steamed PEI Mussels in Morimoto Pilsner broth complimented by a glass of Morimoto Imperial Pilsner. For the third course, Chef Morimoto impressed guests with Kurobuta pork perfectly paired with Morimoto Hazelnut Ale. Next the Chef’s choice of Nigiri Sushi was served with Morimoto Soba Ale. And for desert, a Chocolate Stout Float was served with a Morimoto twist -Tahitian vanilla ice cream.

Give Dad What he Really Wants for Father's Day!

But this ain’t your Dad’s malt liquor. Brewmaster John Maier has Rogue’d the recipe by adding 40% Midwest corn, lightly hopped it with Oregon Crystal Hops, and then lagered it at a warmer temperature to help bring out the sweet, crisp flavors of the corn.

The label honors Sonora Smart Dodd who organized the first Father’s Day celebration on June 19th, 1910. In 1924 President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed the third Sunday in June as Father’s Day and President Nixon established it as a national holiday in 1972.

White Frog Leaps onto Washington Shelves!

White Frog is a hand-crafted ale created by Issaquah brewer Dave Hutchinson using 13 ingredients: Sterling Hops, Pilsen, Wheat, Flaked Oats, Flaked Rye Malts, Coriander, Sweet Orange Peel, Chamomile, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Ginger, Free-Range Coastal Water and Belgian Witbier Yeast. White Frogs brewing specifications are as follows: 12.9° Plato, 13 IBUs, 4.3°L, 82 AA.

Issaquah Brewery’s Frosty Frog repeats as CHAMPION PORTER

March 6, 2009 - (PRINCETON, NJ): Issaquah Brewery’s Frosty Frog was named Grand Champion at the 2009 United States Beer Tasting Championships in the Spice/Smoke beer category. Frosty Frog was also awarded the title of Pacific Northwest Champion in the Spice/Smoke beer category in 2008.

This is Issaquah Brewery’s fourth award and second Grand Champion from the U.S. Beer Tasting Championships. Previous Pacific Northwest Champions were Issaquah Brewery’s Bullfrog Ale in 2007 and Farm Frog Saison in 2006.

Double Dead Guy Ale is an evolution of Dead Guy Ale, the award winning maibock that has won 28 awards for product and packaging since its introduction in 1993.

Canines Invade the Oregon Coast for the Third Year!

February 10, 2009 - (NEWPORT, OR): Rogue Ales Brewery will host the 3nd Annual Brewer’s Memorial Ale Fest on May 15-17th in Newport, OR in honor of Brewer, our revered Chairman and resident black lab who passed away in May 2006. The largest dog-friendly beer festival in the world, this year’s event will include 50+ microbreweries, live music, local seafood, and dog-inspired entertainment. Proceeds from the event will benefit local animal charities Oregon Coast Therapy Animals and the Central Coast Humane Society.

Held inside the Rogue brewery where Brewer grew up, dogs can participate in Doggie Musical Chairs, Dog Dancing, and Celebrity Dog Look-alike contests. Canines can also enjoy a variety of dog food, dog accessories, and specialty doggie beer. Outside, volunteers will host a dog washing station within a fenced dog run area overlooking the scenic Yaquina Bay.
